Juromenha is situated on the banks of the Rio Guadiana overlooking Spain. With fortifications on the site dating back to the time of the Moors this Castelo has a long history. The images in this gallery seek to portray the two sides; the beauty of the place in the spring and the darker side with images taken in the fortress church where remnants of Moorish imagery remain and the guardhouse/prison in which some of the upper floor has given way. In order to reflect these different sides the photographs are a mixture of colour and monochrome.
